End of support for many Microsoft products like Windows 7

2020 is going to be a big year for upgrading. Many Microsoft products are reaching end of life. The beloved Windows 7 no longer recieves security updates as of January 14, 2020.

So what does this mean?

This means that software companies won't make programs compatible with Windows 7. It also means that hardware manufacturers won't make drivers for Windows 7 either.

Because there are no more security updates, that means any vulnerabilities in the operating system won't be patched. Let us remind you that Windows 7 is already vulnerable. Going forward, you will have a vulnerable operating system that can easily be comprimised.

Server 2008 and 2008 R2 also reach their end of life for support on January 14, 2020. If you are running this OS on your servers, you should start planning an upgrade now. you can't upgrade server 2008 to server 2016 or 2019, you need to upgrade to server 2012 first, then 2016 and 2019. Naturally you cannot upgrade a 32bit OS to a 64bit OS.

Here's the full list of Microsoft products ending support on January 14, 2020:
